  1. How to Construct an Iguana Habitat

    • 1

Cut the 2x4s to the following lengths. Four will be cut to 6 feet in length for the height and four will be cut to 3 feet in length for the width. Four will not have to be cut. They are the right length for the habitat.

    • 2

Build a frame using the 2x4s, the wood screws and the cordless screwdriver. The frame will be 8 feet long, 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide. This is the frame of the habitat that is used to attach the plywood top, sides and back.

    • 3

Cut three pieces of plywood to measure 8 feet long and 3 feet wide. Cut two pieces measuring 6 feet long and 3 feet wide. Use the wood screws and the screwdriver to attach one 8-foot-long piece plywood to the bottom of the frame and one to the back side of the frame. Attach the 6-foot-long pieces of plywood to both ends of the frame.

    • 4

Attach the hinges to the third piece of 8-foot-long plywood at intervals of two feet apart. Lay this piece on top of the frame and attach the hinges to the back piece of plywood. Sand any rough edges with the sander. Place the piece of indoor/outdoor carpet in the bottom of the cage.

Attach the hardware cloth to the front of the iguana habitat using the pneumatic stapler. Staple the cloth every two inches. Place the heat lamp and logs inside the habitat. Place the logs at an angle from one side of the cage to the other, with one end at the base level and one end 3 to 4 feet above the base.
