    • 1

Determine where your pet spends most of their time. If it is in a particular room or in their bed then start there first. This is where you begin using any powders or sprays.

    • 2

Use Fleago Natural Flea Powder and spread it throughout the carpet in your home starting with the area that the pet spends most of its time. You will want to remove as much furniture as possible out of the rooms so that the fleas will not hop underneath the furniture or bed in order to stay alive. You can also use other flea killers for carpets including Enforcer for carpets or Flea Killer which range between $8 and $12.

    • 3

Take all of your bedding and your dog's bedding and wash in hot water. You will want to dry them as well. You may want to determine whether or not to throw away the dog bedding since sometimes it won't last through a hot wash and dryer.

    • 4

Vacuum all around your home. Vacuum the carpet after leaving the flea powder down for about an hour. Vacuum underneath anything you didn't move such as furniture or beds. Use extra extensions to your vacuum cleaner in order to get into the corners and reach far away places you can't reach. Vacuum your curtains and your mattress if you didn't remove it as well as a couch or chairs left in the rooms. Be sure to remove the vacuum bag and put it into something sealed so that fleas cannot get out of the bag.

Take your dog to the veterinarian and buy Advantage or Frontline in order to keep your pet free of new fleas. Typically the flea will jump right off the dog if they smell the flea killer or they won't get on him/her at all.

Spray your back yard and front lawn. You can use various sprays they have on the market including Diatec Flea and Tick Killer, Demon WP, or Raid flea and tick killer. You will need to spray around your house, lawns, trees, bushes, and anywhere else that has shrubbery near your home. You need to keep your lawn cut and your trees trimmed throughout the summer. If you have any sand nearby get rid of it since sand brings more fleas.
