What is the difference between endangered and vanishing?

Endangered

* A species is considered endangered when its population has declined to such an extent that it is at risk of extinction in the wild.

* The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List categorizes species as endangered when they meet specific criteria, such as having a population decline of more than 50% over the past 10 years or three generations.

Vanishing

* The term "vanishing" is not a scientific term and does not have a clear definition.

* It is sometimes used to describe a species that is critically endangered and at imminent risk of extinction.

* However, it can also be used more loosely to describe a species that is declining in population but not yet considered endangered.

In general, the term "endangered" is more commonly used and has a more specific meaning than "vanishing."
