What wild species are related to poodles?
The poodle is a breed of dog, not a wild species. However, all dogs are descended from wolves. The wolf species most closely related to the poodle is the grey wolf (Canis lupus). Grey wolves are found in a variety of habitats, including forests, tundra, and grasslands, and are the largest wild canids. Poodles are thought to have been bred from water dogs, which were likely descended from grey wolves that adapted to living in and around water.
