What do panda paws look like?

Giant pandas have distinctive black-and-white markings, but they are not the only animals with these colors. Other animals have different markings too, such as raccoon eyes or tiger stripes.

Panda Paws

Giant panda paws are large and covered with fur. The fur is black on the outside and white on the inside. The underside of the paws is covered with a thick layer of padding. This padding helps to protect the pandas from the cold weather.

Panda Paw Prints

Panda paw prints are easy to identify because of the unique pattern of black and white fur. Giant panda paw prints are large and round. The print of the front foot is about 10 cm (4 in) long and 8 cm (3 in) wide. The print of the back foot is even larger, about 20 cm (8 in) long and 12 cm (5 in) wide.

Panda paws have five toes. The toes are long and curved, and they are tipped with sharp claws. The claws help pandas to grip onto trees and climb.
