What kind of fur do pandas have?

Giant pandas have a distinctive black-and-white fur pattern, with black fur covering their ears, eye patches, muzzle, shoulders, front and hind legs, and a white patch extending from their forehead down to their chest. Their fur is dense, soft, and long, consisting of two layers: a dense undercoat that helps insulate the panda against cold temperatures, and a coarser outer layer that provides protection from the elements. Giant panda fur is highly specialized and adapted to the panda's unique habitat and lifestyle in cold, mountainous regions of China.
