How do tapirs breathe?

Tapirs breathe just like other mammals, using lungs.

Here's how it works:

* Inhalation: They take air in through their nostrils, and it travels down the trachea (windpipe) to their lungs.

* Exhalation: Air is expelled from the lungs through the same pathway, back out the nostrils.

Their respiratory system is similar to ours, although their nostrils are located on the top of their snout, which helps them breathe while swimming or foraging in water.
