When did dodos exist?
The dodo bird (Raphus cucullatus) existed during the late Quaternary period, specifically from around 10,000 years ago to 1662 AD. The dodo was native to Mauritius, a small island in the Indian Ocean. It was a large, flightless bird, known for its stocky build, round wings, and a large, hooked beak. The dodo became extinct due to a combination of human activities, such as hunting, and the introduction of predators like cats and pigs, which preyed upon the dodo's eggs and young.
