Where do flamingos usually nest?
Flamingo nests are typically constructed in shallow waters of lakes or lagoons. The nests are mainly built with mud and vegetation found at the water's edge. Most commonly they are cone-shaped or mound-shaped and can measure around 2 to 3 feet (0.6 to 0.9 meters) high. Flamingo colonies often create extensive nesting grounds called "flamingo cities" due to the sheer number of nests gathered closely together. These sites provide them with safety and accessibility to food resources for both adults and their offspring.
