The dodo is an extinct flightless bird that once inhabited the island of Mauritius. It was around 1 metre (3.3 ft) tall and weighed about 10–15 kilograms (22–33 lb). The dodo had a large, hooked beak, small wings, and a long tail. Its plumage was brownish-grey, with a white rump and tail feathers.
The dodo was known to make a variety of sounds, including a loud honking, a low guttural growl, and a high-pitched twittering. It also made a cooing sound when it was mating.
The dodo's calls were likely used to communicate with each other, to warn of danger, and to attract mates.
