How many babies can a fox have?

A fox can have anywhere between 1 to 13 babies, but typically they have between 4 to 6 babies at a time. These babies are called kits and are typically born in the spring after a gestation period of around 53 days. The kits are born blind and deaf and rely on their mother for food, warmth, and protection. They will stay with their mother for up to 10 months before they become independent.
