Here's why squeezing a dog's neck is dangerous:
* Suffocation: The neck houses the trachea (windpipe), which is vital for breathing. Squeezing it can restrict airflow, leading to suffocation.
* Damage to the larynx: The larynx, or voice box, is also in the neck. Squeezing can damage it, leading to breathing problems and potential vocal cord paralysis.
* Spinal cord injury: The spinal cord runs down the back of the neck. Squeezing can damage it, leading to paralysis or death.
* Internal bleeding: Squeezing the neck can cause internal bleeding, potentially leading to shock and death.
Pugs, like all dogs, are vulnerable to these dangers. Their short muzzles and prominent eyes do not make them more susceptible to having their eyes fall out from neck squeezing. This is a harmful misconception.
Please remember that all animals deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. Never intentionally harm or endanger an animal. If you are concerned about a dog's well-being, please contact a veterinarian or animal rescue organization.
