Can a fox howl like dog?

Foxes do not howl like dogs. While both foxes and dogs are canids, they have different vocalizations.

Here's why:

* Foxes primarily use a high-pitched yelp or bark. They may also make hissing, snarling, and screeching sounds.

* Dogs howl in a much lower pitch, and their howls are often prolonged.

While there are similarities in the sounds, a fox's howl is more akin to a short, sharp bark or a bird-like cry, rather than the full-bodied howl of a dog.
