Does a spotted hyena build their own shelter?
Spotted hyenas do not construct their own shelters. Instead, they prefer to utilize natural dens, such as burrows dug by aardvarks, caves, and crevices, for protection and shelter from the elements. In some cases, hyenas may take over termite mounds or occupy old anthills if suitable dens are scarce. However, they do not actively engage in constructing their shelters like some other animal species.
