What is the color of gray fox?
The gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) has distinct grizzled gray upper parts, a black-tipped bushy tail, and reddish undersides. Its upper fur consists of a mix of black, gray, and rusty hairs. The chest, belly, and insides of the legs are reddish or buff-colored, but the chin, throat, and lower lip are pure white. The outer surfaces of the ears are mostly black, and it has a yellowish patch surrounding each eye. The gray fox also sports a stripe of darker fur along the top of its entire tail, which is about 11 to 16 inches (28 to 41 cm) long. The tail is bushy, with white edges and a conspicuous black tip.
