How do coral polyps reproduce?

Coral polyps reproduce both sexually and asexually. Sexual reproduction involves the release of sperm and eggs into the water, where they combine to form a planula larva. The planula larva then swims until it finds a suitable place to settle and grow into a new coral polyp. Asexual reproduction involves the budding of new polyps from existing polyps. This process can occur multiple times, resulting in the formation of large coral colonies.
