Why is the cheetah a generalist?
Cheetahs are not considered generalist species. Rather, they are classified as specialist predators, meaning they have a relatively specialized diet and hunting behavior focused on a specific type of prey. Cheetahs primarily prey on small to medium-sized ungulates, such as gazelles, impalas, and wildebeest calves, and they have evolved specific adaptations for chasing and capturing their quarry, including exceptional speed and specialized teeth and claws.
