How many whales are present in India?
India is home to a great variety of marine life, including several species of whales. These include the humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae), the blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus), the fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus), the sei whale (Balaenoptera borealis), and the Bryde's whale (Balaenoptera brydei). The sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) and the killer whale (Orcinus orca) can be found in Indian waters as well. In total, there are possibly nine species present.
