What kind of weather do alpacas like?

Alpacas are well-adapted to cold climates and high altitudes. They originate in the Andes Mountains of South America, where temperatures can drop below freezing at night. Alpacas have thick coats that help them stay warm in these cold conditions. They also have large lungs that help them breathe the thin air at high altitudes.

While alpacas can tolerate cold temperatures, they do not like extreme heat. In order to stay cool, they will often seek shade and drink plenty of water. When temperatures get too high, alpacas may experience heat stress, which can be fatal.

The ideal climate for alpacas is one with cool, dry days and cold nights. Alpacas can also tolerate moderate amounts of rain and snow, but they do not like extended periods of wet weather.
