How big do sea lions get?

The largest species of sea lion is the Steller sea lion, which can grow up to 3 metres (9.8 feet) long and weigh up to 1,100 kilograms (2,400 pounds). Female Steller sea lions are smaller than males, and typically grow to be between 2 and 2.5 metres (6.6 and 8.2 feet) long and weigh between 200 and 300 kilograms (440 and 660 pounds).

Other species of sea lions include the California sea lion, which can grow up to 2.4 metres (7.9 feet) long and weigh up to 300 kilograms (660 pounds), and the South American sea lion, which can grow up to 2.5 metres (8.2 feet) long and weigh up to 350 kilograms (770 pounds).

Newborn sea lions are called pups, and they typically weigh between 10 and 20 kilograms (22 and 44 pounds). Pups grow quickly, and they can double their weight in the first few months of life. By the time they are one year old, sea lion pups are typically about half the size of adults.
