What is the wahoos habitat?

Habitat

Wahoo are found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world. They prefer warm, clear water with plenty of structure, such as coral reefs, rocky outcrops, and wrecks. Wahoo are usually found in depths of 30 to 300 feet, but they have been known to descend to depths of over 1,000 feet.

Diet

Wahoo are voracious predators that feed on a variety of fish, squid, and crustaceans. They are known to attack prey that is much larger than themselves. Wahoo have sharp teeth and a powerful jaw, which they use to crush the bones of their prey.

Reproduction

Wahoo spawn during the summer months in tropical waters. They release their eggs and sperm into the water, where they are fertilized. The eggs hatch into larvae, which drift with the currents until they settle down on the bottom and metamorphose into juvenile wahoo.

Conservation

Wahoo are an important sport fish and are also caught commercially. However, their populations are threatened by overfishing. In some areas, wahoo are protected by fishing regulations.
