Spotted Hyena (Crocuta crocuta):
Newborn spotted hyena cubs are typically around 1.5 to 2 pounds (0.7 to 0.9 kilograms) and about 10 inches (25 centimeters) in length.
Striped Hyena (Hyaena hyaena):
Striped hyena cubs are slightly smaller than spotted hyenas. They usually weigh around 1.1 to 1.8 pounds (0.5 to 0.8 kilograms) and are about 9 inches (23 centimeters) long at birth.
Brown Hyena (Parahyaena brunnea):
Brown hyena cubs are relatively small compared to other hyena species. They weigh about 1 pound (0.5 kilograms) and are around 8 inches (20 centimeters) in length when they are born.
Earth Wolf (Proteles cristata):
Although not a true hyena, the earth wolf is closely related to hyenas and is sometimes considered an honorary member of the family. Earth wolf cubs are the smallest among the hyena relatives. They weigh around 10 ounces (280 grams) and are about 6 inches (15 centimeters) long at birth.
As hyena cubs grow, their size increases rapidly, and they reach adulthood within one to two years, depending on the species.
