What is a juvenile kangaroo?

A juvenile kangaroo is called a 'joey'. Joeys are born after a short gestation period. Because of their underdeveloped state they make the transition to the security and protection of the mother's pouch, where they are suckled. Over the next half-year, the joey will stay in the pouch and during that time it undergoes a great physical development. After that time, the joey will start spending some time outside of the pouch and eating solid food, until it is fully weaned.
