Do African elephants make a home?

African elephants are highly social and live in herds, which can range in size from a few individuals to several dozen.

While elephants do not 'build' homes in the sense humans do, they do have preferred habitats and areas they return to consistently, such as traditional feeding or resting grounds.

Elephants are known for their daily and seasonal migrations in search of food and water. They establish territories and move within those areas to utilize available resources.

Their home ranges can be vast and cover hundreds of square kilometers, encompassing diverse landscapes and ecosystems. Within their territories, they may have specific spots for resting, bathing, foraging, and socializing.
