Where did the spider monkeys name come from?

Spider monkeys got their name from their long, slender limbs and prehensile tails, which resemble the limbs and legs of a spider.

These features allow them to move with incredible agility through the rainforest canopy, swinging from branch to branch with ease. Their long arms and legs, combined with their strong grip, enable them to hang upside down and perform acrobatics that would be impossible for other primates.

The name "spider monkey" is descriptive and aptly captures their unique physical characteristics and remarkable arboreal abilities.
