Have gorillas and lions ever coexisted?

Gorillas and lions have never coexisted in the wild.

Here's why:

* Geographic Range: Gorillas are found in central and western Africa, primarily in rainforests and mountainous regions. Lions, on the other hand, are found in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia. Their habitats are largely separate.

* Dietary Differences: Gorillas are herbivores, feeding primarily on leaves, fruits, and stems. Lions are apex predators, relying on hunting other animals for their food. This means they don't compete for resources and there is no reason for them to interact.

* Behavioral Differences: Gorillas are highly social animals, living in family groups led by a dominant silverback male. Lions also live in social groups, called prides, but their social structures and behaviors are quite different from gorillas.

While their paths have never crossed in the wild, it's worth noting that zoos sometimes house both gorillas and lions, though they are kept in separate enclosures.
