Why gorillas hunt animals?

Gorillas are strictly herbivores. They do not hunt animals.

While there are some anecdotal reports of gorillas consuming small animals like insects, this is likely opportunistic and not part of their regular diet. Their primary food source is plants, including leaves, stems, fruits, and roots.

The misconception that gorillas might hunt may stem from their size and strength. They are the largest primates and can appear intimidating, but their diet is entirely plant-based.
