Why does the squirrel monkey live near water?

Squirrel monkeys don't necessarily live near water, but they do depend on it for several reasons:

* Drinking: Like all animals, they need water to survive.

* Food: Squirrel monkeys often eat fruits, insects, and other small animals that are found near water sources.

* Cooling down: They live in tropical areas, and water helps them regulate their body temperature in the heat. They may bathe or swim in water to cool down.

* Protection: Water sources can provide a safe haven from predators.

In summary, squirrel monkeys need water for several reasons, but they don't necessarily live directly beside it. Their habitats are usually within reasonable distance of water sources.
