If evolution is real why are there still monkeys?

The existence of modern-day monkeys does not contradict the theory of evolution. Evolution does not imply that all ancestral species become extinct once new species evolve. Monkeys and humans share a common ancestor, but as both species diverged and adapted to different environments over millions of years, they evolved distinct characteristics and occupied different niches in the ecosystem.
