How long do monkeys stay with their mothers?

The length of time that a monkey stays with its mother varies greatly depending on the species and the environment in which it lives. Generally, monkeys give birth to a single infant, or sometimes twins or triplets, and the young monkey will remain with its mother for a period of time until it is able to fend for itself. This can range from a few months to several years, depending on the species.

For example, in some species of marmoset, the mother will carry the infant for the first birkaç weeks, passing it to other members of the group for care while it forages for food. In contrast, in species like orangutans, which are large, solitary primates, the young will stay with their mothers for up to 7 or 8 years, learning about the forest and how to find food before eventually becoming independent.
