Does the hippo have strongest jaws?

The hippopotamus does not have the strongest jaws in the animal kingdom. While they have incredibly powerful jaws, they are not the strongest.

* Saltwater crocodile: The saltwater crocodile has the strongest bite force among all living creatures. They can generate a bite force of over 3,700 pounds per square inch.

* American alligator: Closely related to the saltwater crocodile, the American alligator also has a remarkably strong bite force, clocking in at around 2,125 pounds per square inch.

* Great white shark: While not as strong as the crocodiles, the great white shark boasts a bite force of around 4,000 Newtons, which translates to roughly 900 pounds per square inch.

While the hippopotamus's bite force is impressive (estimated at around 1,800 pounds per square inch), it falls short of the formidable strength of the saltwater crocodile, American alligator, and even the great white shark.
