What does apophis look like?
Apophis is an asteroid that has an estimated diameter of 320 metres (1,050 ft). It is classified as an Aten asteroid, which means it has an orbit that crosses that of Earth's. Apophis has a dark surface and is irregularly shaped, with a distinct triangular shape. Its surface is covered in numerous craters, the largest of which is about 150 metres (490 ft) in diameter. Apophis also has two small moons, which orbit it at a distance of about 1 kilometre (0.6 mi) and 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) respectively.
