How does a stingray give birth?

Stingrays give birth through a process called ovoviviparity.

- In this process, the eggs are fertilized and develop inside the female's body, but they are not nourished by her directly. Instead, the embryos receive nourishment from a yolk sac that is attached to the eggs.

- When the embryos are fully developed, they hatch inside the female's body, and the female gives birth to live young.

- Stingrays can give birth to multiple pups at a time. The number of pups can vary depending on the species of stingray, with some species giving birth to as few as one pup and others giving birth to as many as 20 pups.

- The gestation period for stingrays also varies depending on the species, but it typically lasts several months.

After the pups are born, they are able to swim and feed independently. They will typically stay close to their mother for protection until they are old enough to fend for themselves.
