How are opossums dangerous?

While not generally aggressive toward humans, opossums can bite if they feel threatened. Their saliva is toxic and can carry diseases, such as rabies, tularemia, and Leptospirosis. Additionally, opossums can have a musky odor and can be a nuisance if they take up residence in or around your home. They can also damage property, as they are known to chew on electrical wires and other items.
