Why would you see a mother opossum carrying her babies during the day?

It is extremely unlikely that a mother opossum would be carrying her babies during the day. Opossums are nocturnal, meaning they are most active at night, and they usually carry their young in their pouches at all times. However, if you find a mother opossum during the day, it's usually a sign of distress, as they are either orphaned or in search of a new place to live. This is generally rare and unusual, so if you see an opossum and her young during the day, it's best to leave them alone or contact a local wildlife rescue.
