Why do bats have hair?

Bats are mammals, and all mammals have hair! While their hair might be shorter and finer than some other mammals, it serves the same purposes:

* Insulation: Hair helps bats stay warm, especially important for those who live in colder climates or hibernate.

* Protection: Hair can provide some protection from the elements and even help camouflage them from predators.

* Sensory perception: Some bat species have specialized hairs called "vibrissae" around their nose and mouth that act as touch sensors, helping them navigate and find food in the dark.

* Social communication: Hair can play a role in recognizing individuals within a colony and signaling their social status.

So, while you might not always see it, bats definitely have hair! 🦇
