How big is a sabor tooth tiger?

The term "sabor tooth tiger" is a bit misleading. While they were indeed tigers, they weren't actually closely related to modern tigers. The most famous saber-toothed cat, Smilodon, was actually more closely related to modern lions and leopards.

Here's a breakdown of Smilodon's size:

* Length: Around 8 to 10 feet long, not including the tail

* Height: 3 to 4 feet tall at the shoulder

* Weight: Between 800 and 1,200 pounds

So, Smilodon was a large, powerful predator, comparable in size to a modern lion.

Important Note: There were many different species of saber-toothed cats, and their sizes varied. Some were smaller, like the Homotherium (around the size of a wolf), while others, like the Megantereon, were larger than Smilodon.
