Who would win a hippo or tiger?

A hippopotamus would almost certainly win in a fight against a tiger. Here's why:

* Size and Weight: Hippos are massive, weighing up to 4,000 pounds. Tigers, while large, are much smaller, typically around 400-700 pounds. This size difference gives the hippo a huge advantage.

* Strength and Aggression: Hippos are incredibly strong and aggressive. Their powerful jaws can crush bone, and their thick skin offers excellent protection. Tigers are strong hunters, but they wouldn't be able to penetrate a hippo's hide with their claws.

* Defensive Tactics: Hippos are known to be territorial and incredibly defensive. They often charge at perceived threats, using their massive weight and powerful jaws to inflict serious damage. Tigers are more likely to avoid a confrontation with a hippo altogether.

* Aquatic Advantage: Hippos are semi-aquatic and spend a significant portion of their time in water. This gives them an additional advantage, as a tiger would be at a disadvantage trying to fight in the water.

While a tiger might try to take down a hippo if it was extremely hungry or desperate, it's highly unlikely that it would succeed. The hippo's sheer size, strength, and aggression would give it a decisive advantage in any fight.
