How long do scrub jays live?

The lifespan of a Scrub Jay varies significantly depending on the environmental conditions and other ecological factors. In the wild, their average lifespan is estimated to be around 7 to 10 years. However, some individual Scrub Jays have been recorded to live for more than 15 years.

Additionally, captive Scrub Jays, residing in well-maintained and protected aviaries or parks, have been known to live considerably longer. In such controlled and favourable conditions, they can even surpass the 20-year mark, demonstrating their potential longevity under optimal circumstances.
