How LSU got the tiger as logo?

Here's the story of how LSU got the tiger as its logo:

The LSU Tigers' mascot is a Bengal tiger named Mike the Tiger. The tradition of Mike the Tiger began in 1936 when a live tiger was first brought to campus.

Mike I arrived at LSU's campus on September 29, 1936, as a gift from Humble Oil and Refining Company. He quickly became a popular attraction on campus and was often seen strolling around the grounds or participating in student events.

Mike I passed away in 1947 and was replaced by Mike II, a tiger cub that was donated to LSU by the city of Baton Rouge. Mike II served as the school's mascot for 22 years until his death in 1969.

He was succeeded by Mike III, who was donated to LSU by the Toledo Zoo. Mike III lived on campus for 11 years before passing away in 1981.

Mike IV, the current LSU mascot, arrived on campus in 1981 and has been a beloved figure among students and fans ever since. He resides in a specially-designed habitat at the LSU Rural Life Museum.

Over the years, Mike the Tiger has become an integral part of LSU's identity and is widely recognized as one of the most iconic mascots in college sports.
