What is the current count of tigers in world?

According to the latest estimates from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), there are approximately 3,900 wild tigers left in the world. In comparison to the estimates from the early 1900s when there were believed to be over 100,000 tigers in the wild, the current tiger population represents a significant decline of over 95% in just over 100 years.

Habitat destruction, illegal hunting and trade, and climate change are some of the main factors contributing to the continued decline of tiger populations. As a result, the conservation status of tigers is considered critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), highlighting the urgent need for effective conservation efforts to protect and recover these majestic creatures.
