Why are vampire bats endangered?

Habitat loss

- Due to the destruction of forests for agriculture, logging, and human settlements

Hunting and persecution

- Due to fear and superstition, as well as their use in traditional medicine

Competition with other bat species: Vampire bats share roosting sites and food sources with other bat species which results in inter specific competition.

Pesticides and chemicals: Ingestion of insects like moths contaminated with chemical insecticides.

Disease: vampire bats like other species of wild animals are exposed to disease like rabies as well as disease transmission through interaction with livestock.
