Is the lion bigger than tiger?

The lion (Panthera leo) and the tiger (Panthera tigris) are both large carnivorous mammals belonging to the Felidae family. In terms of overall size, there is some variation between different subspecies of both species. However, on average, tigers are generally larger than lions.

Body Size Comparison:

Tigers:

- Body Length: 8-11 feet (2.4-3.3 meters)

- Weight: Male tigers can weigh between 300 to 660 pounds (136-300 kg), while females typically weigh between 220 to 370 pounds (100-165 kg).

Lions:

- Body Length: 6-8 feet (1.8-2.4 meters)

- Weight: Male lions can weigh between 330 to 550 pounds (150-250 kg), while females typically weigh between 220 to 375 pounds (100-170 kg).

Note: There are exceptions, with some large male lions sometimes exceeding the average weight range and surpassing the size of average male tigers. Additionally, individual variations exist within both species, influenced by factors such as geographical location, habitat, and prey availability.

Therefore, while lions and tigers can vary in size, on average, tigers tend to be larger than lions in terms of both body length and weight.
