What is a hippos prey and predateor?

Hippopotamuses, or hippos, are herbivorous mammals found in Africa. As herbivores, hippos primarily consume grass, making grasses the primary prey for them. Although hippos are powerful and exhibit aggressive behavior, they don't actively prey on other animals for sustenance.

As for predators, adult hippos generally have very few natural predators due to their massive size and aggressive behavior. However, young hippos may be preyed upon by lions, crocodiles, and hyenas. Lions and hyenas may target young hippos that have strayed from the protection of their group or are vulnerable during certain times, such as crossing rivers or grazing at the water's edge. Crocodiles can be a threat to young hippos in water bodies where both species coexist.
