Does plaster of Paris kill chipmunks?

Plaster of Paris, when dry, is not toxic to chipmunks. However, if a chipmunk ingests wet plaster of Paris, it can cause serious health problems, including:

- Gastrointestinal obstruction: The plaster can form a hard mass in the chipmunk's stomach or intestines, blocking the passage of food and water. This can lead to malnutrition, dehydration, and even death.

- Peritonitis: The plaster can also cause peritonitis, a serious infection of the abdominal lining. Peritonitis can be fatal if not treated promptly.

- Aspergillosis: Plaster of Paris can also contain Aspergillus spores, which can cause aspergillosis, a respiratory infection. Aspergillosis can be fatal in chipmunks.

If you think your chipmunk has ingested plaster of Paris, take it to the vet immediately.
