What is neopolybac-h?

Neopolybac-H® (Neomycin Sulphate, Polymyxin B Sulphate, Bacitracin Zinc, Hydrocortisone)- Neopolybac-H is a potent combination preparation of topical antibiotics (neomycin sulphate and polymyxin B sulphate), a polypeptide antibiotic (bacitracin zinc) and a corticosteroid (hydrocortisone). Each gm. of Neopolybac-H ointment contains: Neomycin Sulphate BP.....equivalent to 3.5mg. of Neomycin base, Polymyxin B Sulphate BP.....equivalent to 5000 I.U. of Polymyxin B base Bacitracin Zinc USP .....500 I.U., Hydrocortisone BP ......10mg.

Therapeutic Use: Neomycin Sulphate, Bacitracin Zinc, Hydrocortisone: This combination of three topical antibiotics is used in inflammatory infections of skin, caused by organisms sensitive to these antibiotics, such as impetigo, infected eczema and infected superficial burns and pyodermas..

Dosage: Apply 2-3 times daily or as directed by the physician.

Contraindications

* Viral skin infections

* Tuberculosis of the skin

* Fungal skin infections

* Herpes simplex

* Acne rosacea

* Perianal and genital pruritis

* Otitis externa

Precautions

* For external use only.

* Do not apply on open or deep wounds.

* Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

* Do not use if allergic to any ingredient of the preparation.

* Do not use for prolonged periods of time.

* If skin irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician.

Pregnancy

* There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of neomycin, bacitracin and hydrocortisone cream in pregnant women.

* Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

Nursing Mothers

* It is not known whether topically applied neomycin and bacitracin is distributed into breast milk. Hydrocortisone is distributed into breast milk.

* Decide whether to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
