How does a Pukeko look like?

Pukeko (*Porphyrio porphyrio*), also known as the purple swamphen, is a medium-sized rail found in marshlands in New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, and Norfolk Island.

Appearance:

* Size: Pukekos are approximately 45-55 cm long, with a wingspan of 75-85 cm.

* Plumage: The Pukeko has striking black plumage with a purplish-blue sheen, especially noticeable in bright light.

* Legs and Bill: They have long, red legs and a sturdy, red beak with a pale tip.

* Sexual Dimorphism: Male and female Pukekos look similar, although males are generally slightly larger.

* Eyes: Pukekos have large, dark brown eyes.

* Other Features: They have a white frontal shield, which is a patch of bare skin above the bill, and a long tail.
