How dangourus are wolves?

While wolves can be dangerous, the likelihood of a wolf attack on humans is extremely rare. In fact, there have been only a handful of fatal wolf attacks on humans in North America in the past century. Wolves are typically shy and avoid contact with humans. However, there are a few things that can increase the risk of a wolf attack, such as:

- Approaching or feeding wolves

- Hiking or camping in wolf territory during the summer months when they are raising pups

- Leaving food or garbage outside

- Allowing pets to roam freely in wolf territory

If you are in an area where wolves live, it is important to take precautions to avoid attracting them to your home or campsite. These precautions include:

- Storing food and garbage in airtight containers

- Keeping pets indoors or on a leash

- Avoiding areas where wolves are known to frequent

- Carrying bear spray and making noise while hiking or camping in wolf territory

If you do encounter a wolf, it is important to remain calm and avoid making any sudden movements. Slowly back away from the wolf and do not make eye contact. If the wolf approaches you, use your bear spray and make yourself as loud and intimidating as possible.
