What preys on mountain lions?

Mountain lions, also known as cougars or pumas, are apex predators, meaning they are at the top of the food chain and have no natural predators in most of their range.

However, there are a few exceptions:

* Humans: Humans are the primary threat to mountain lions, through hunting, habitat loss, and conflict with humans.

* Other Mountain Lions: Adult males may kill young cubs, particularly if they are not their own.

* Bears: While rare, large bears, especially grizzly bears, can potentially prey on mountain lions, particularly cubs or smaller individuals.

It's important to note that these are not typical interactions. Mountain lions are generally at the top of the food chain and have a wide range of prey, including deer, elk, and smaller mammals.
