How many layers of fur does a wolf have?

Wolves have two layers of fur:

* Guard hairs: These are the long, coarse hairs that make up the outer layer of the wolf's coat. They provide protection from the elements and help to insulate the wolf.

* Underfur: This is a dense, soft layer of fur that lies beneath the guard hairs. It provides warmth and helps to trap air, further insulating the wolf.
